Promoting SHSG sixth form

 

 

I have chosen to use pictures that I feel represents life at SHSG; that being community and work ethic. The pictures with the camera in it are a link to media A-Level specifically and the perks of doing that A-Level. I felt like a big part of SHSG is the logo as it represents the school and its history, therefore I made it take up half the photo to highlight this. I used a quote from the school’s website, “Academic excellence and life-changing experiences,” as this is a core value and part of SHSG life which shows the experiences you would get from choosing this school. 

I have encoded my preferred values and opinions of shsg into this by sharing a variety of photos that show hard work and dedication, but also the friendships that come from such an incredibly inclusive school. I feel as though the writing photos showed this dedication to learning and A-levels and the camera photos link to media A-level specifically. This can be decoded by readers to have a preferred reading and see core values and a love for SHSG life. In addition, audiences could then have a negotiated reading and apply this to their own lives and sixth form experiences. This means they will see the intended meaning I have portrayed but link it to what they like about their schools

'All About Me' poster

With reference to Stuart Hall's reception theory, i have encoded my values and my cultural capital into my 'All About Me' piece. I have presented my love for friendship, music and the media industry. My composition can be decoded as fun-filled and busy to represent how i want the viewers to view my aspirations. I think people viewing my 'All About Me' collage will mostly have a preferred reading and accept my encoding. However, people may also have negotiated reading and apply it to their values and aspirations.
